The new year has begun! It’s the season to start fresh, try to stick to our resolutions and plan the shape our lives are going to take over the next 12 months.

As with the fashion world, it’s interesting for interior designers to see what’s going on in other countries in terms of trends and style, to see what new and innovative ideas could influence our own design choices. Here’s a quick snapshot of three interior design conferences happen in Europe that will definitely showcase upcoming trends in furniture, textiles, lighting and more!

Formex: Stockholm, Sweden. Nordic design has been a leading influence on North American interiors for a while, especially when it comes to small spaces. Formex is the largest interior design conference held in Scandinavia, and this year’s theme is coined “Nordic Neat”.

Maison & Objet: Paris, France. This well-known design show is celebrating its 20th anniversary! The event has grown so big that they’ve added a second conference in the autumn, as the show is known for drawing crowds from across the globe. Maybe if we start saving up the petty cash in the office the Flow Team could go to this spectacular gathering of interior design minds!

imm: Cologne, Germany. This event, dedicated to bringing international goods to one large show, holds a vast array of just about anything you’d need for your home! There is also specific emphasis on supporting and showcasing young and up-and-coming designers in the field.

Are you planning to attend an interior design event this year? We’d love to hear about it! Vancouver has fantastic interior design and decor shows every year, such as BuildEx, IDS West and the Home and Garden show.
