Less that two weeks to go until Christmas now! Everyone here at the Flow office is getting pretty excited for a visit from Old Saint Nick!
Today, our designer Tina Presley shares her family’s Greek Christmastime traditions. Though she admits Easter was a far more important holiday in her household, Christmas still stood out!
“Well my big fat Greek Christmas consists of tons of food, roasted lamb of course and lots of garlic roasted peppers and a special filo stuffed pastry with feta cheese called Zelnik, my Baba made it for most special occasions. The special thing about Zelnik at Christmas is that a coin (no particular denomination) would be placed in the pastry and hidden. The lucky person to find the coin in their piece was the person that was blessed with good luck for the following year.”
“Christmas was very North American with presents under the tree and and lots if family and friends visiting. We had such a large family it would take the whole week of holidays just to see everyone. Growing up in Toronto meant white Christmas for sure and usually lots of snow storms to keep us at home for the holidays.”
